Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic form of Hatha Yoga based on Patanjali's 8-limbed path, originally taught by Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. It involves a sequence of asanas linked with breath (Ujjayi), energetic locks (Bandhas), and focused gazing (Drishti) to develop concentration, strength, flexibility, and mental clarity. Rooted in the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and K. Pattabhi Jois, Ashtanga combines traditional Indian philosophy, pranayama, and meditation, emphasizing a balanced, sequential practice (vinyasa) that fosters an integrated mind-body state. Mysore Style Class allows students to practice independently with individual guidance, adapting the sequence to their pace and abilities. This format supports diverse practitioners and cultivates self-reliance, presence, and personal growth.
Walking into a Mysore room can feel intimidating, but this workshop is designed to make the transition smoother and more comfortable.
The workshop is designed for the absolute beginner, yogis transitioning from other styles and led classes, and more experienced practitioners looking to rebuild their practice after time away or recovery from an injury.
In this workshop you will learn foundational aspects of the practice, get familiarised with the asana sequence, get a taste of self paced practice and look into the necessary skills of concentration, breath and body awareness. After this you will be ready to join our regular mysore program
