What is Body-Mind Centering® Intro Workshop ?
Body-Mind Centering® is an integrated and embodied approach to movement, the body and consciousness.
Developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, it is an experiential study based on the embodiment and application of anatomical, physiological, psychophysical and developmental principles, utilizing movement, touch, voice and mind. Its uniqueness lies in the specificity with which each of the body systems can be personally embodied and integrated, the fundamental groundwork of developmental repatterning, and the utilization of a body-based language to describe movement and body-mind relationships.
This workshop is an introduction to next Somatic Movement Education Program the School for Body-Mind Centering® Starting July 2025 will be offered in the Forest Lighthouse.
The Introduction workshops and the Somatic Movement Education program are an initiative of www.tessura.org. For a detailed schedule of Tessura’ s Somatic Movement Education Program see: https://www.bodymindcentering.

The study of Body-Mind Centering® is a creative process in which embodiment of the material is explored in the context of self-discovery and openness. Each person is both the student and the subject matter and the underlying goal is to discover the ease that underlies transformation. The Body-Mind Centering® approach has an almost unlimited number of areas of application. It is currently being used by people in movement, dance, yoga, bodywork, somatic studies, physical and occupational therapy, psychotherapy, child development, education, voice, music, art, meditation, athletics and other body-mind disciplines.
The quality of our movement changes when we initiate the movement from different places, different tissues.
In this workshop, we focus on experiential anatomy of both ‘container’ (muscles, bones, ligaments) as well as ‘contents’ (organs, glands,...) of our bodies.
Movement and touch are two facets of the same mirror, allowing us to enter the felt and diversified strata of our moving self.
The study of the different body structures form the essence of the Somatic Movement Education program and in this two-day workshop we introduce basic principles of that study, as well as dedicate time to a demonstration of applications and further research and artistic paths this study introduces us to.
