What is Feldenkrais for Special Needs Children ?

As Feldenkrais practitioners and students, you may sometimes feel that you lack the tools or understanding needed to effectively adapt your work for children with special needs. This advanced training course, led by Sophie Dingemans – a highly experienced practitioner specializing in working with children and babies – offers an immersive experience dedicated to this specialized area, providing invaluable insights for professional specialization. Designed to empower practitioners working with children and babies, especially those with special needs, this course enables experienced practitioners to refine and expand their skills and knowledge. Sophie’s extensive international experience and advanced certifications, including Theory and Technique Anat Baniel Method for Children (ABM), taught by Nancy Aberle, and the Jeremy Kraus Approach (JKA), guarantee participants in-depth, hands-on learning. This course also supports those who wish to embark on this meaningful work with children, fostering both personal and professional growth.

I have worked by invitation in ten countries in 18 cities, returning often to the same places and developing close working relationships with many families. I have witnessed time and again the transformative power of this work for children and their families. My experiences have been deeply rewarding and at times deeply challenging, facilitating my own professional transformations and inspiring me to support more practitioners to work...

I have over 30 years experience of working with the Feldenkrais Method as a movement educator, researcher and artist. I have extensive experience working with a wide range of people including children with special needs. I also draw from a range of related disciplines, including: in-depth studies of anatomy and physiology, including experiential anatomy and biotensegrity; developmental movement (Body Mind Centering); and a range of somatic dance and movement practices. I came to specialise in these fields because as a child I had many problems with my body. In working with children with special needs, I am especially concerned to...
