In this online 12-hours courses, you will learn to : Describe the role of the brain in chronic pain; Describe which disorders are clearly caused by neural circuit disorders, and which are caused by structural disorders; Perform neural circuit testing in the assessment of chronic pain; Explain neural circuit disorders to patients and clients in a clear and compassionate manner; Refer patients to appropriate resources in the treatment of chronic pain; Initiate treatment using pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) and emotional awareness and expression therapy (EAET).
The course is tailored for therapists, clinicians, and practitioners in direct contact with clients/patients with chronic conditions, however, you can still follow the course if you are simply interested in knowing more about the neuroscience of pain and therapies for chronic pain.
- Learn about robust scientific evidence that underpins the techniques presented in the course.
- Develop a deep sense of confidence in treating chronic pain patients through practical and experienced led training.
- Experience a transformative shift in how you perceive mind-body syndromes, fostering a more humane and patient-oriented approach.
- Learn to recognize and mitigate the impacts of fear on the brain and body, leading to more effective pain treatment strategies.
The nature of pain, predictive processing, neural circuit disorders, chronic pain assessment, pain reprocessing therapy (PRT), provocative testing, graded exposure, the nature of emotions and their relationship to pain, emotional expression and awareness therapy (EAET).
In the first part of the training, you’ll focus on neuroscience and the nature of pain, learning all about predictive processing, and how to explain neural circuit disorders to patients and clients in a clear, and compassionate manner.
In the second part, you’ll learn about diagnosis and assessment. We’ll demonstrate, and you will practice how to asses different kinds of chronic pains, and when to apply the therapies taught in this course.
In the third part, you’ll learn about pain reprocessing therapy: how to rewire the neural circuits in the brain by helping people manage their fear, including practices such as performing provocative testing and graded exposure.
In the fourth and fifth parts, you’ll learn about emotional awareness and expression therapy, the nature of emotions, their relationship with pain, and how to help people cope with emotional issues.
